Waterjet in the Field of Aviation Industry
Introduction
Application of water jet in aerospace processing industry High-pressure water jet cutting technology is referred to as water cutting, also known as water jet. This technology first originated in the United States and is used in the aerospace industry. Water jets are used to cut soft materials for aircraft interior parts, including soft plastics, carpets, seats, etc.
Details
The waterjet can cut at any angle, creating parts with little or no hand machining around critical angles.

Waterjet is a cold cutting technology and therefore does not cause thermal damage to the material. Aerospace composites can be drilled and cut using abrasive waterjet technology without the need for surface stripping.

The abrasive waterjet can be easily integrated with the waterjet robot, significantly reducing fixtures, lowering capital investment and enabling quick set-up and replacement work.

Using waterjet to cut composite materials is faster, the tool lasts longer, it creates no dust, and it increases production efficiency cleaner and safer.

With the rapid development of the aviation industry starting from energy conservation and environmental protection, new materials, new processes, and new structures are widely used, which leads to the search for new methods of manufacturing. The aviation manufacturing industry is a key application area of "water jet".

The outer shell of the aircraft is mostly made of steel, stainless steel, titanium alloy, aluminum alloy and carbon fiber materials. For this material, a large cutting machine, a 400MPa high-power high-pressure system, and a five-axis control cutting head can be used for cutting processing.

Skeleton structural parts such as fuselage, wings, and landing gear not only have high strength requirements, but also need to reduce their own weight and reduce energy consumption while meeting the strength requirements. For this purpose, commonly used materials include alloy steel, stainless steel, Aluminum alloy, titanium alloy and carbon fiber, etc. From the tails of Boeing 777 and Airbus A380 to the wings of Boeing 7E7 and F117; from the turbine blades of jet engines to Apache helicopters, multifunctional waterjet cutting machines and 400MPa high-power high-pressure systems can be used for these structural parts. 5-axis cutting head performs cutting processing.

Ventilation system Pipes and connecting flanges of ventilation systems are often made of titanium, aluminum alloy and carbon fiber. For this material, 400MPa small and medium-power high-pressure systems, small and medium-sized cutting machines and general-purpose cutting heads can be used for cutting processing.

Interior parts, seats and other components mostly use aluminum alloy and engineering plastic seat brackets to bear the load. Foam plastic is used as the liner, and chemical fiber fabrics, leather, and artificial leather are used as the foreskin. Robotic waterjet (six-axis control), 400MPa small and medium-power high-pressure system, and pure water cutting head can be used for cutting processing.

Aircraft doors, windows and interior partitions are all made of glass and laminated glass. Small and medium-sized cutting machines, 300~400MPa low-power high-pressure systems, universal water cutting heads or water cutting processing centers can be used for cutting processing.
